Alchemy Craft First Devlog


Hi, everyone. Welcome to my very first game development log. This is also Alchemy Craft's first devlog. Alchemy Craft has been updated to a Version 3, which is now available to download, here on itchio. I want to share the progress I've made and my plans for the future of Alchemy Craft.


Changelog

  • Text no longer appears instantly in large groups; instead is written out over time.
  • Emulated screen borders to separate and group game text.
  • Various minor display changes.
  • Various minor input changes.


Progress

This update mostly focused on improving the game's text interface. The game is text-only, so I believe creating a clean and consistent style of communication is a top priority. I emulated screen/window borders to communicate which info is most relevant at any point in the game. I also created a system that writes text, character by character, over time rather than appearing instantly in large groups. I felt it was difficult to interpret the output when many lines of text appeared on the screen all at once.  I'm interested in what you all think about this new text delay system.


Future Plans

I am regularly working on Alchemy Craft as a top-priority project. My next goals for the game are adding more elements and recipes to experiment with. I want the player to be able to discover and accumulate more ingredients, which will open up even more recipes to unlock.

I want to improve this game and create a more unique, fun experience.
